Penne a la Vodka

A Classic Italian-Staple Dish!


Penne Pasta 1 pound
Vodka 1/4 cup
Olive oil 2 tablespoons
Heavy cream 1 pint
Garlic 2 cloves, minced
Peeled tomatoes 1 can (28 oz)
Fresh basil 1/2 cup
Salt and Pepper To taste

10 minutes to prepare, 35 minutes to cook, ready in 45 minutes

This recipe for a traditional penne a la vodka is equal parts creamy and rich with flavors of tomato. Sprinkle on some additional pepper and parmesan cheese if desired for flavor!

Step 1: Boil large pot of water, adding small amount of salt, cook pasta for 8 minutes, to be served al dente

Step 2: Cook garlic in olive oil for 1-2 minutes using skillet and medium heat settings

Step 3: Add in tomatoes, basil and salt and pepper, simmer for 15 minutes

Step 4: Stir in vodka and cook for 15 minutes

Step 5: Stir cream into sauce and mix with cooked pasta

This makes an excellent Italian-style dinner option and offers rich flavors of tomato, fresh basil, notes of garlic, and rich cream.
