If you’re having people over, this is a most excellent way to provide a sweet and crispy side. It’s not popular, so your guests will be pleasantly surprised!
Step 1: Start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees.
Step 2: Take a medium saucepan, and place your chopped sweet potatoes in it, covered with water. Fire up your stove to a medium heat until they’re tender.
Step 3: Drain the water from the saucepan and mash the sweet potatoes.
Step 4: Get a large bowl, and mix the sweet potatoes you’ve just cooked, in with the white sugar, eggs, salt, butter, milk, and vanilla. Keep mixing it until it’s smooth.
Step 5: Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Step 6: In a clean bowl, combine the brown sugar and the flour.
Step 7: Cut the butter into the mixture until it’s coarse.
Step 8: Mix in the pecans.
Step 9: Spread this pecan mixture over the sweet potato mixture you put in the baking dish in step 5.
Step 10: Put it in the oven you’ve been preheating for about 30 minutes – the topping should be a light brown.
And that’s it! Your guests will surely be impressed!
