Sloppy Joes

A classic American sandwich!

Extra lean ground beef 1 1/2 pounds
Onion 1/2, diced
Garlic 2 cloves, minced
Water 2 cups
Ketchup 3/4 cup
Brown sugar 2 tablespoons
Dijon mustard 1 teaspoon
Worcestershire sauce 1 dash
Salt 1 1/2 teaspoons
Ground black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Cayenne pepper 1 pinch

15 minutes to prepare, 40 minutes to cook, ready in 55 minutes

Sloppy Joes are are a fantastic, fuss-free hearty meal, ideal for lunch, or dinner. If you’re having friends over who you need to feed, rather than impress, this is an ideal solution.

Step 1: Mix the beef and onion in a cold skillet, or any other similarly appropriate cooking pan.

Step 2: Get your skillet on the stove over a medium heat, and cook it until it’s browned.

Step 3: Mix your garlic and bell pepper into the beef in the skillet; allow it to cook until the vegetable are nice and tender.

Step 4: Add 1 cup of the water, stir that in, then stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.

Step 5: Add the second cup of water, and allow your mixture to come to a simmer – it should be smelling really good by now!

Step 6: Lower the heat, and keep cooking it until it becomes thick and sludgy.

Step 7: Finally, season it as you need to with the salt, ground black pepper, and cayenne pepper

That’s a pretty painless meal to prepare and cook. Obviously, you can put these on burger buns, but realistically, you can put this on any kind of bread you like.

Ending on a slightly less traditional point, remember that everything tastes better with cheese.
