Tuna melt

A bar and diner classic

Ingredients

French bread 1 loaf (1 pound)
Sweet onion 1, small, diced
Tuna 1 can (12 ounces)
Mozzarella cheese 2 cups, shredded
Mayonnaise 1 cup

15 minutes to prepare, 10 minutes to cook, ready in 25 minutes

This is classic diner food, but of course, it’s plenty delicious if you can make it fresh at home, without waiting to be served!

Step 1: Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2: Get a medium sized bowl, and put in the sweet onion, drained tuna, mozzarella, and mayonnaise. Mix all of them really well together.

Step 3: Slice the French bread, and spread the tuna mixture on the slices.

Step 4: Put the sandwiches on a baking sheet, and put them in your preheated oven for 10 minutes.

You can add other things to the tuna mixture – sweetcorn or diced celery is usually a good call, as well as a splash of lime juice.

If you prefer, you can also put the mozzarella on top of the sandwich, rather than in the tuna mixture. You can, of course, do both!
