Chemical-free pancakes

All-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups
Baking powder 3 1/2 teaspoons
Salt 1 teaspoon
White sugar 1 tablespoon
Milk 1 1/4 cups
Egg 1
Butter 3 tablespoons, melted

5 minutes to prepare, 15 minutes to cook, ready in 20 minutes

The idea of making pancakes without the aid of a box of powder pancake mix is pretty alien to many Americans – some can’t get their head around doing it any other way.

Well, pancakes have been around a lot longer than pancake mix. Most of the ingredients needed go with the expensive mix anyway. You should at least try them!

Step 1: Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. A large bowl will do the job.

Step 2: Create a well in the center of the powder mix – that’s for you to pour in the milk, egg, and melted butter.

Step 3: Mix all of that up until it’s nice and smooth.

Step 4: Lightly oil a griddle or frying pan – either with spray, or turning a bottle of oil onto a paper towel and wiping the bottom. Crank your stove to a medium high heat.

Step 5: Ideally using a ladle, pour about 1/4 cup of your pancake mixture onto the griddle or pan. Just let them brown on both sides – it should only take a minute or two.

See? Very easy and straightforward, and not a chemical in sight!

Obviously, you can put whatever topping you like on it. Chocolate chips or fruits are always a great call!
